Creative Spirit is an eight-session course that will enable participants to reflect on the Christian story and respond imaginatively and creatively, by engaging with eight works of religious art from the Methodist Modern Art Collection.

The resource can be used in a variety of settings including quiet days and worship. It can also be used to form the basis of a study or Lent course.

Questions that will help participants to explore the paintings are accompanied by prayers and further material for deepening discipleship.

"We looked at the picture in the light of the gospel reading – that was a very good exercise and concentrated our looking and helped us go deeper into both the story and the image. We also swapped sides of the room after someone noticed that the perspective changed according to where we were sitting – different emphases due to the changing light conditions...

The ‘snapshot’ slides to respond to the suggested activity of imagining conversations of the main characters of the picture were especially helpful, and indeed because of their larger scale revealed detail that hadn’t been noticed before! Overall the CD resource was well received. 

I had a look at the accompanying DVD at home and really liked the music and the transition of the slide to reveal parts of the picture as we waited to begin looking at the gallery of images... intriguing! We will be gathering again to look at another image in the not too distant future..."
